The European Union's (EU) current funding opportunities for cultural projects are often seen as inadequate. The EU should therefore look for new models of cooperation for European external cultural relations. What are the main EU mechanisms for supporting European external cultural relations? Which policy areas are involved in funding cultural projects and what is funded? What alternative cooperation and funding models have been developed by other actors in the field of European external cultural relations?
